Enjoying Filipino Cuisine is a comfort for most of us Filipinos, aside from being patriotic, it also brings us back to the time our parents or Grandparents prepares these food with much care and love involved in the preparation of the dishes.

Luna J Gastropub in Quezon City offers to relive the feeling by serving you well-loved Filipino dishes.

Don’t be fooled from the outside as the establishment may look like an expensive dining place with its elegant ambiance. Luna J lets you have a feel of fine dining style of serving Filipino cuisine without breaking your wallet.

I have been hearing raves about this restaurant but due to my busy schedule plus the fact that every time I pass by the area, the place is beaming with diners waiting to be seated, I only got the chance to try some of their dishes just last week.

My husband and I were on a diet, so we decided to try some dishes reserving the others for our next visit.

Kaldereta (P320)
Picture
Luna J’s version is quite tender though I didn’t get to taste the usual coconut milk that comes with Kaldereta and it also lacks the spiciness that I’m looking for in a kaldereta dish. (you can request for chopped chili on the side).
Tapa(P195)

Picture
Tender beef slices which is not overpowered by vinegar that you can still taste the beefy goodness. it comes with generous serving of atsara and a tasteful vinegar on the side.

Chicken Salpicao (P210)

Picture
Though it does taste good, my husband finds it a bit salty and can only be enjoyed with rice.

Since its our date night, We scored some beer SMB Light(P50); They serve their beers ( Local and Imported) at Sub-Zero..only that, I forgot to take a photo of it while it’s at that state.

Overall experience is nice and we ended up breaking our diet that night with extra orders of plain rice which is also a steal at P25/cup.

Verdict: We will definitely go back to try their other dishes, we might do so during lunch so we can still try the desserts.

Glad to know there are still restaurants out there that serve Filipino cuisine. I think we are being invade by Japanese and Korean restaurants. So it's hard to find Filipino restos. Haha!

i also love salficao whether pork or chicken but i don't like tasty foods, it's okay to be bland since you can add spices but if it's already salty, i cannot eat them.

I will definitely bring my family here to give it a try. I'm a big fan of Caldereta and I always order it whenever I'm at a Filipino restaurant.

Looking at the store front, I did think it's a fine dine-in and I wouldn't be able to afford eating there. Thanks for coming across this post so when I see this restaurant, I will enter instead of just passing by. Hehe.

I would love to try out their tapa! It looks so delicious. I'll come back to this post to let you know my own experience. :)

I would love to try the Tapa with hot choco for late dinner. Too bad it's too far from where I live again.

I go for lamb calderita, my favorite. I seldom eat that one for it is too rare here in our place. Why favorite for I had eaten twice in the place where I was assigned and the usual food the community prepared during their fiesta is lamb calderita for the haciendar owner.

I am after the restaurant's desserts. Aside from the food above mentioned, do you have any recommendations with their best-selling desserts?

There's ample packing at the basement of the building. Don't forget to have your ticket validated for the regular rate.
