My love for seafood spans several decades and counting. I drool at the sight of Shrimp, Crab, and Lobster. As for fish I lean towards Halibut, Gindara, Salmon and fresh Tuna. There’s a certain kind of smell seafood emits that never fails to whet your appetite.

One requirement in serving seafood though is its freshness as only fresh seafood can taste great. I can now claim that I have come across a restaurant which serves only the freshest seafood plus more!

Davao’s finest seafood joint is expanding its reach as it opens its first Metro Manila branch in The Block, Sm North EDSA. Blue Post Boiling Crabs and Shrimp is a haven for seafood lovers like me.

Blue Post original concept was of a bar hatched by a group of friends, all fresh out of college and with a common love for going out, traveling, and bonding over food and drinks, decided to venture into a business 22 years ago.

In 2013, Blue Posts was redesigned into a casual-dining haunt. The place owes its reinvention to Mr. and Mrs. Anthony and Jennifer Ang who in one of their US trips noticed the emergence of casual-dining seafood restaurants. Their popularity was such that people would line up even before the stores would open and didn’t mind it.

One of these restaurants was so distinct it boasted a “messy finger-licking” dining style which reminded the couple of the very Pinoy “kamay-kainan” dining fashion. The Angs knew at once that they had to bring the same concept to Davao City.

As I tried their fares, I couldn’t help but notice how the tables can be messy, let alone our hands. At Blue Posts, dining with bare hands is the norm. A food-grade wax paper is set before you accompanied by a Blue Posts bib to prepare you for a messy but satisfying gastronomic adventure.

My husband and I got to try some of their best-selling Seafood bucket, Diners can choose from a wide roster of seafood placed in a food grade boiling bag mixed with the signature Blue Posts Cajun Special Sauce, along with corn cobs and other extras such as sausages and boiled potatoes. Customers can choose whether they prefer it regular, mild, or spicy hot. Whatever level of flavour you pick, the dishes remain interesting, mouth-watering, and worth going back to.

This variant is so Asian and full of flavor! The sauce is perfect to be drizzled on top of steaming hot rice. Earthy and spicy flavor of the herbs complemented the crustaceans.
Garlic Fried Crabs

Generous garlic bits in sticks to every nook of the crab, its aroma seeping through the tender meat. This is best dipped in their cajun vinegar. As much as I love crab, I hate deshelling, good thing my hubby is so helpful. Tip: Have your better half do it for you :)

By far the most flavorful variation , best if you want to taste the freshness in a bit fiery manner. You can actually request for a custom level of spiciness.
Crispy Garlic Tuna Belly

Boiling Point serves one of the freshest Tuna I’ve ever tasted that I almost finish the whole slab had there not been other people on our table.
Seafood Fritters

Mix of shrimp and crab nuggets fried to a crisp with sweet and sour dip.
Blue Post also serve equally good non-seafood item:
Sinuglaw

Their version is given a twist with addition of Green apple cubes which gave it a sourly taste. The pork cutlets are tender to the bite and blended well with the dressing.
Grilled Native Chicken

Native Chicken are normally used for soup based dish as its meat can be tough, but Blue Post served it grilled. Surprisingly, it’s not as tough as I expected it to be, the flavor made up for the not so tender meat.
Another must try is their mixology station where you can mix and match different juices, I particularly loved the Lemon-Cucumber mix.

What better way to end a fresh seafood galore than with a fresh citrus fruit- Davao Pomelo! We got to try their Pomelo Cream Salad with Corn. It’s a refreshing twist to pomelo, marriage of sweet and a tinge of good sour.
