With vehicle prices on the verge of rising due to the imminent excise tax, more and more people are scrambling to purchase their dream ride before the spike hits. But for most of us who are stuck with old vehicles, we just have to improvise on its look for a nice ride.

With various technology available, your old car can be updated with proper maintenance and care. Since our country has a humid weather, we need to factor in molds and mildew problems and fading color of paint, hence, we put together some care tips that will help you solve the aforementioned problems.

Don’t use powder detergent in washing your car

Although this may sound moot, trust me, I have seen people doing this. Dissolving powder detergent in water leaves a residue that can scratch your car paint and expedite fading of the color.

Solution: Purchase liquid car wash solution. The price might be a bit higher but it will save you money in having your car repainted.

Don’t use ordinary cloth in washing your car

Using ordinary cloth or rag in washing your car can also cause scratch marks and will not dry the liquid properly, thus causing watermark.

Solution: Use microfiber cloth. Microfibers are able to attach themselves to even the smallest, dirt particles which normal cloth fibers is unable to do so.

Dust and Dry off interior regularly

Moisture trap inside interior of your car can result to bad odors due to molds, hence, it is advised to clean your car’s interiors regularly.

For persistent smell, don't use fresheners since it will just temporarily mask off the smell. Use odor eliminator specifically made for fabric of car interiors such as this Odor Eliminator made specifically for vehicle interiors.

Tidy Up

Most people neglect to store their stuff properly inside their vehicle and resort to dumping everything in the compartment or the back of an SUV, doing so may accidentally put scratches on your interior.

Use this type of storage net for vehicles to neatly stack your stuff and easily locate them.

Wax your exterior

Waxing adds shine to your car and gives added protection against fading. Black cars are harder to maintain, it needs color specific waxes. Use wax that are specifically to match your vehicle shade.

Since we have a black SUV, I use this wax which are made specifically for black cars.
