A Filipino restaurant aptly called Mesa

My continued exploration on restaurants serving Filipino cuisine has led me to Mesa Filipino Moderne, a brightly lit establishment along Tomas Morato strip which could not have a better name.

Going through their menu, prices were nicely pegged. Interiors are nice and modern which compliments the ambiance that caters to after office hangout for Executives and bonding over family dinners.

We were having a super late dinner that night that we decided to go for what seemed like the faster dish to prepare.

We decided to go for a beef dish for the main reason that surely this is pre-cooked since beef takes much longer to tenderize, a chicken dish since the name is screaming garlic (we both love garlic) and lastly a vegetable substitute- Tofu.

Beef, 2 ways
This dish have large chunks of beef served in 1. Creamy curry 2. Crispy fried
Both were very tender and flavorful, though I am leaning towards the saucy version.

Garlic Chicken

Deep fried battered chicken pieces dredged in Honey and garlic sauce (much like soy garlic).
Sweet spicy thick sauce coated the crispy fried chicken with a twist of oriental taste.

Tofu Sisig

My husband loves Tofu of any form though this version is somewhat plain in taste but adding calamansi and lots of chopped chili did the trick.

And oh, we broke our diet yet another time as we did order additional rice so we decided to skip dessert.

Mesa Filipino Moderne also serves other notable dishes on their menu, one such is their version of Crispchon which can be done simply crispy or can be served in 2 ways: wrapped in pandan crepe or tossed in garlic.

Other items on the Menu:

All in all, it was a satisfying meal. Service time was fast. One glitch though, The a/c had a problem the night we dined, I hope it’s not a permanent thing.
